Print Workshop

J'ai reçu cette semaine le livre Print Workshop de Christine Schmidt (Yellow Owl Workshop).
Il est vraiment fantastique! Très bien fait en plus de contenir plein de bonnes idées!

hot cocoa

Comme vous le savez maintenant, j'adore le lait au chocolat chaud. Et bien, j'ai trouvé une recette sur le site de Design Sponge: Hot, Hot Cocoa Mix.
C'est vraiment très bon avec toutes ces épices! Vous devriez l'essayer pendant la fin de semaine!

Quand nous sommes allés chez mes parents, nous sommes revenus avec plein de choses à manger. Une mère reste toujours une mère! Nous avions une tourtière, des carrés aux dattes, du pain que nous avions fait, un pot de confiture aux fraises et à la rhubarbe que ma mère avait fait. 

Elle était trop bonne cette confiture! J. et moi nous sommes presque battus pour avoir les dernières cuillerées, mais c'est moi qui les ais eues! L'argument gagnant a été: «C'est moi qui finis le pot parce que c'est ma mère qui les a faits!»  J. n'a rien eu à répondre...

When we went to my parent's house, we came back with many things to eat. A mother is always a mother!

She gave us a meat pie, date squares, bread that we made ourselves, a jar of strawberry jam and rhubarb that my mother made.

That jam was so good! J. and I almost fought over the last spoons of it, but I won! The winning argument was:«I take it beacause my mother did that jam!» J. had nothing left to say...

C'est la reste de ma maman et j'y rajoute des pacanes. Avec une boule de crème glacée à la vanille, c'est tellement bon!

I think it's my favorite dessert!

It's my mom's recipe and I add pecans. With some vanilla ice cream on the side, it's sooo good!

deuxième essaie / second try

Voici mon deuxième essaie avec ma nouvelle machine!

Elle va très bien, mais je ne suis toujours pas certaine de mon toutou... je ne sais pas si je l'aime.

C'est pas grave! Je me pratique!

J'ai vraiment besoin de votre aide.../ I really need your help...

Vous savez que nous avons adopté Simone qui a été abandonnée par des voisins pas très malins. Et bien, jusqu'à un certain moment, nous croyions que tout allait bien et qu'elle s'entendait à merveille avec nos autres chats, Bob et Lili. C'était le cas jusqu'au matin où elle a commencé à se battre, à donner des coups de patte aux deux autres. Ça s'est un peu amélioré depuis le premier coup. Bob est assez imposant et il ne se laisse pas faire. Par contre, Lili est plus petite et elle se laisse impressionner. Tous les jours c'est le même manège. Simone s'approche de Lili qui se met à grogner et cracher. Même que Bob et Lili ne viennent plus dormir avec nous parce qu'à chaque fois qu'ils descendent du lit pour aller manger Simone leur saute dessus. Moi non plus je ne voudrais plus venir dans le lit si on me faisait ça!

Lili est de plus en plus passive. Elle reste couchée sur son coussin poilu toute la journée. C'est ce qui me dérange le plus... Je ne sais plus quoi faire... Si ça ne s'arrange pas, il va falloir trouver une autre famille pour Simone et ça me fend le cœur! Je l'aime tellement! Elle est super adorable avec nous. Si vous la voyiez jouer, se coller, ronronner, roucouler... C'est vraiment un bon minou! Seulement, je crois qu'elle a dû passer de durs moments dehors et que ça a laissé des séquelles...

Le pire dans tout ça c'est qu'il y a plein de moments où les trois chats se sentent le nez, les fesses, qu'ils sont côte à côte sans problème... s'ils ne s'entendaient jamais, je ne me poserais pas la question et je lui trouverais une autre famille à Simone.

Si vous avez des idées, des trucs à essayer j'aimerais vraiment les connaître... merci à l'avance!

You know that we took  under our roof Simone who has been left by some neighboor. Until a certain point, we thought it was going super well between her and our two other cats, Bob and Lili. Then Simone started to fight and slap the other two. It has a bit improved since the first fight. Bob isn't too impresed by Simone and he sets his limits. On the other hand, Lili is smaller than Simone and she gets afraid of her. Every day it's the same thing. Simone gets near Lili who starts to grunt and spit (i don't know if these are the proper words for what I want to say...).  Bob and Lili don't even come sleep with us anymore. Every time they got off the bed Simone went after them. I woudn't want to go in the bed if someone did this to me!



Lili is becoming so passive. She stays on her orange cushion all day. That's what tickles me the most... I don't know what to do. If it doesn't improve we're going to give Simone away and it brakes my heart! I love her so much! She's super adorable with us. If you saw her purr, play, coo (is that a word?)... She's really a good cat. But I think she has had hard times alone outside in the street and it has given her these problems...


I think that it wouldn't be as hard if they never got along, I would simply look for another family for Simone. Because they do get along. They smell eachother's nose and ass and they often stand next to each other without  problem. They even used to sleep in the bed in between J. and me one behind the other....

Petite journée.../ Little Day

Deuxième journée consécutive où je me rends à la caisse... et que c'est fermé...

En revenant, j'arrête à l'épicerie pour acheter du savon à vaisselle.

En arrivant à la maison, je vide mon sac.

Dedans il y a du chocolat (il me faisait de l'oeil  la caisse!), du maïs en crème, du shampooing et du revitalisant. J'ai oublié de prendre du savon...

Bon... de toute façon, il faut que je retourne à la caisse demain. J'en achèterai à ce moment-là... à condition que j'y pense!

Sur une note plus positive, j'ai récupéré un rôti de palette que j'ai converti en pâté chinois (c'était pour ça le maïs dans mon sac!). J'ai mis du cheddar extra-fort dedans et sur les patates... C'était vraiment bon!

Second day that I go to the bank... and that it's closed...

Coming back home I stopped at the grocery store to get dish soap.

When I emptied my bag there was chocolat ( it was looking at me while I was at the cash!), cream corn, shampoo and conditioner. I forgot to get the soap...

Anyway, I'm going back to the bank tomorrow. I'll go get some at that point... if I remember it!

I actually did something good today! I took a piece of beef that was left from yesterday and transformed it in a sheppard pie (that's why I had cream corn in my bag!). I put extra-old cheddar in and on the potatoes... It was really good!

Toutou raté.../ soft toy problem...

J'avais pratiquement terminé ce toutou. Tout ce qu'il me restait à faire c'était le bourrer... quand j'ai remarqué que la tête et le corps s'étaient séparés...
Cette fois, ce n'est pas un problème de machine à coudre, mais un problème de tissus!
Déception... mais finalement, je n'aime pas trop le visage que je lui ai fait... moins déçue finalement...

I had almost finished this soft toy. All I had left to do was putting the filling in it when I realised that the head and the body weren't togethere anymore...
This time it's not a problem of sewing machine but of fabric! 
Deception...then I thought I didn't really like the face I drew... less deception now...

Avec des sous reçus pour Noël, j'ai acheté une nouvelle machine à coudre. Que je suis heureuse!

Plus besoin de me battre avec le file! Ça a fonctionné du premier coup!


Ça m'a vraiment donné des ailes aujourd'hui!

J'ai donc fabriqué un boudin à courants d'air. J'ai pris l'idée dans le livre de Lotta Jansdotter, Simple Sewing. C'était facile et j'aime bien le résultat. J'ai même eu de l'aide de Simone!


J'ai envie de faire plein d'autres choses maintenant! Yeah!

With some money I received for Christmas, I bought a new sewing machine. I'm so happy!

No need to fight with the thread no more! It worked the first shot!

It really gave me wings today!

So I made a draft snake. I took the idea in Lotta Jansdotter's book Simple Sewing. It was easy and I like the result. I even got some help from Simone!

I feel like doing a lot of other things now!
